Srinagar, Jan 14 (KNO): As part of its ongoing enforcement against narcotic offences, police have arrested two drug peddlers in Pulwama and Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), in Pulwama, a police team from Police Post Newa during naka checking at Newa intercepted a suspicious person. During search, 70.5 grams of charas powder-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Samir Ahmad Wagay son of Bashir Ahmad Wagay resident of Wahibug. Similarly in Sopore, during naka checking at Parray Mohallah Hygam, a police party intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Musair Bashir son of Bashir Ahmad Reshi resident of Veer Colony Aliebagh.
Both the accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.
